New record of Pygmy Cormorant close to Xinjiang border

Two days ago group of Pygmy Cormorant (Phalacrocorax pygmaeus) was found near Taldykrgan city not far from the Kazakhstan - Xinjiang border. This record means birds of this species can be observed in Ili river basin including Xinjiang territory. Xinjiang Changji Manas County National Wetland Park

Dec. 28, 2018, LIU Zhongde found this species in Manas River wetland.
Cyдиловская (1936) reported this species in Tien Shan, China. This recent discovery of Pygmy Cormorant clears up some of the historical doubts and the species can now be safely added to the Chinese avifauna.
